A family of a father and two brothers are brought into the hospital from a car accident. After running tests, the Doctor determines the older brother suffered severe blood loss, contusions to his liver and kidney, and early signs of cerebral edema from head trauma. After the father, Elroy McGillicuddy, wakes up and his arm is put in a sling, the doctor finds the younger brother in the older brother's room to tell him his father is awake. He wants to know about his brother, so the Doctor gives an update, explaining about the injuries, and explains that the brother may not wake up. He tells the younger brother that he is fighting very hard, but the boy should have realistic expectations.
Later, the Doctor works with his team on the older brother's body to restart his heart. After a bit, they are able to get it restarted. Later still, the Doctor works with his team to restart the heart of a little girl, but she dies despite their efforts. The next day, with his team the Doctor works on the father after he collapses, but he also dies. The Doctor calls the time of death at 10:41 AM.
