During the second week in April, 2005, a newly married couple, Vince and Holly Parker, came through Burkittsville. Aunt Stacey gives them a pie. When Vince shakes Uncle Harley's hand, Emily notices his cool tattoo, and tells him.
On Thursday April 13, 2006 a young man calling himself John Bonham is asking around for Vince and Holly Parker, saying that they were his friends and they had gone missing about a year ago. Emily remembers them, reminding her aunt and uncle. Harley gives John directions out to the Interstate, same as with the Parkers.
On Friday John comes back into town, claiming he never left. He asks about her history, the town, and the creepy scarecrow. She tells him how nice her family is to take her in, and how blessed the town's been - when everyone around has been losing farms, no one in town has any worries. He notices a red van, and asks who it belongs to. Then he heads to Scotty's cafe. Later she sees the sheriff escort John out of town.
On Saturday her uncle and aunt come and grab her, as if to kidnap her. They act strangely, taking her down to the cellar. Harley takes her down, leaving her next to John. She asks why they are doing this, and Stacey replies, "For the common good." John is more helpful with answers, telling her the townspeople are going to sacrifice them both to the creepy scarecrow god in the orchard. He asks about an ancient, special tree. She tells them about the First Tree, that the immigrants brought over with them. While they are talking, the celler opens and it's time for the sacrifice.
It's evening, and the town is there, tying up Emily and John. Emily tries to get through to Stacey and Harley, and although they are sorry it has to be Emily, they are determined to sacrifice her. The town withdraws, leaving the two alone in the orchard. She asks John what the plan is to escape. He claims to be working on it. Later he still claims to be working on one, although she's thinking he doesn't have a plan of escape. She is trying to see if the scarecrow has started moving, when this other guy walks out of the orchard, calling for Dean. He unties John/Dean, and then they untie her. The scarecrow isn't on its pole.
They are running, trying to escape the orchard, when they run into the townspeople surrounding them. She begs them to let them escape, but Harley tries to get Emily to turn herself over to the scarecrow. However, the scarecrow kills Harley, and grabs Stacey. Emily hides in Dean's arms, until it leaves, and everyone scatters.
Sunday, April 16, 2006 Emily walks out with Sam and Dean to burn the First Tree. She has no love lost for the town now, not after what they tried to do, and asks Dean if she could be the one to light it up. She takes the burning branch from him, and throws it at the base of the tree. They watch it burn down. Later on she climbs on a bus to go to Boston. She waves at Dean, before taking a seat and heading off to a new life.
