One night Meredith is walking home, listening to her iPod. On the way home, her iPod quits. She stops, and fiddles with it, but it seems definitely broken, and she's not happy as she yanks the earbud out of her ear. She hears a breathy faint whisper calling her name. The wind picks up, blowing garbage and leaves everywhere. Another calling of her name, so she turns around and calls "Hello?" No one answers, except again the creepy voice calls her name. She heads for home. Again the creepy voice calls her name, and she looks back over her shoulder to see a huge shadow of a man on the wall of a building. She begins to fast walk. The creepy whisper calls her name again, and she looks back over her shoulder to see the shadow is following her. Meredith breaks into a run, dashing across the street to her apartment building. Fumbling for her keys, she finally is able to open it and slide inside to slam the door shut.
Meredith opens her own apartment door, setting the alarm and locking the doors. Only then does she allow herself to calm down. After settling in and grabbing a beer, she listens to her voice messages on her answering machine. First one is from Kristen, wanting details of Meredith's date. The second one is from Derek, wanting to set her up as a blind date with someone. The third one-
Meredith's body arched as her heart is ripped from her body.
It is later revealed the Daeva killed Meredith, on Meg's orders.
