Ritchie Cooper is a happy, bouncing toddler boy, who loves his juice. His mom's name is Jenny, and he has an older sister named Sairie. Their family just moved into a house in Lawrence, Kansas. |

Ritchie is bouncing in his playpen when his mom comes into the kitchen with two men, Dean and Sam. She gives him juice in his sippy cup, and talks with them. They talk with his sister, Sairie, as well.
After the plumber came - it is assumed Ritchie was down for his nap during that time - he is back in his playpen when Mom is talking on the phone. She leaves, telling him she will be right right back. One wall of his playpen falls, and the refrigerator door opens. He walks over and sees his juice sippy cup, so climbs onto a shelf in the fridge to drink. The door closes.
Later, Mom opens the fridge door and picks Ritchie up, holding him and being upset. She answers the door, still holding him, when the two men from earlier are there with someone new. Mom lets them in.
That evening Mom takes Ritchie and his sister out, leaving the strangers in their house. When they come home, the house is messy.
After Ritchie is put to bed, the tall man comes rushing in and grabs him out of his crib. Ritchie is carried to Sairie's bedroom, where a frightening person is on fire, before the tall man carries them both downstairs. Sairie holds Ritchie's hand and they run outside to Mom, who picks him up and holds him.
