Tessa is a Reaper. She is first seen be Dean as a grey ghostly spirit, but later tends to favor a beautiful dark-haired young woman visage. After Heaven is closed and she starts going insane, she is recruited to be a supernatural terrorist. Dean stops her from harming others, but she is able to use him to kill herself. |

Tessa first shows as a spirit in In My Time of Dying, when as a Reaper she is roaming the halls of the hospital where Dean as a spirit sees her. She next tries to take Dean, but he fights her and she resorts to looking like a pretty girl to get him to talk to her. She first pretends to not know what's going on, and Dean comforts her and explains about being spirits close to death. While talking, they are interrupted by a little girl who dies. Dean sees Tessa's true form, and figures she is a Reaper after reading from Dad's journal. He confronts her about her deception; she counters she needed to talk with him about the fact his time is up. Dean tries to talk his way out; Tessa counters each argument. He finally refuses to go, but she points out he would turn into an angry spirit - the same thing he hunts. She tells him it's time to decide. Just as Dean turns toward her to tell her his decision, Azazel comes in and possesses Tessa, healing Dean and sending him back into his body.
Reapers look human and there as many different looks as humans have. The reaper in Faith looked gray and cadaverous while Tessa in In My Time of Dying looked like a light gray ghostly form. Tessa was also able to take a beautiful woman form in her other appearances, and Billie was also able to take on a beautiful woman in her appearances.
