On July 14, 2006, six month birthday for Rosie, Monica meets him with Rosie in the stroller when he arrives home. They have a wonderful supper before Monica puts Rosie to bed. The lights flicker strangely, and Charlie goes downstairs to check things out. He finds two guys breaking in, and taking the baseball bat, tries to take down the smaller guy. He grapples with the bat, swinging Charlie over to the wall. He says they are trying to help! Charlie calls up to Monica to get the baby, struggling to free himself. The guy backhands him, knocking him unconscious.
Charlie comes to on the front lawn, with Monica and the two guys coming out of their house. He yells for them to get away from his family, but Monica protests that they saved them. She grabs the baby from the guy Charlie had tried to hit earlier, and he puts his arms around his family as Monica tells them, "Thank you".
The tall guy wants to go back inside to kill the shadow thing, but the shorter one prevents him from going.
