Jared Bender is the son of Abraham (Pa) Bender, and the brother of Lee and Missy. Their family has a proud heritage of hunting humans, but only a few at a time to not get caught. |

In May 2006, Pa decides that it's time for another hunt, and he takes Lee and Jared out to the town to pick a prey. Hiding under a car, the prey spots them and tries to run, but they grab him and pull him under to capture him. They drive away in their old camper truck. For a week they feed the prey in his cage.
After about a week, Pa decides it's time to grab another prey and he takes his boys to Kugel's Keg. They find a young man, tall, and nab him, driving away in their old camper truck. The next day they feed the first prey for the last time. That night Pa gives his boys permission to go on a hunt, and they let out their first prey. Jared gets first crack at the hunt, but he gets a knife in his leg. Lee is able to stab the prey in his leg. Allowing him to hobble away, Lee and Jared follow behind until he tripped over the wire. Gleeful at the hunt, Lee and Jared stab their prey. His death scream is heard, and it makes Pa proud of his boys.
The next day a lady cop shows up and it makes Pa mad. Missy came to get the boys to tell them Pa wants to see them. He is angry. Pa tells them to go find her car and hide it like the rest of the cars. Pa takes the cop to the cage. They drive down the long driveway, but then stop to walk the rest of the way. Sure enough, the car is parked out by the highway. Lee climbs in, to drive it around back of the property.
Later on, Missy is screaming Daddy, and Lee and Jared come running. There is a man in their house, and Lee and Jared fight him, until Pa hits him over the head to knock him out with a frying pan.
Later the boy awakens, tied to a chair to find Pa and his family watching him. The brothers want to hunt him, after all, he's a fighter and should be fun. Pa talks about their hunting heritage, and asks if the cops are coming. At one point he lips Pa, and Lee steps forward and hits him in revenge. Pa uses the red hot poker, and eventually gets the answers he wants. Pa tosses the key to his son Lee and tells him not to let him out, but to shoot him in the cage, and then shoot the bitch too. Lee leaves.
After hearing the shot, Pa ignores the boy's (Dean) threats, calling for Lee. Since Lee doesn't reply, Pa tells Missy to watch him, and he and Jared grab guns to head for the barn. They find Lee, unconscious, and the power cut off. They separate to search better, when Jared hears the cabinet click open. He fires into the furniture three times, but to no avail. Suddenly Kathleen jumps him and tries to wrestle. Jared throws off Kathleen, and prepares to shoot her. Sam, who is continually being shot at by Pa, runs in and manages to distract Jared, and as he turns to fire Sam ducks, causing Jared to shoot his father in the shoulder. Sam knocks Jared out.
Sam locks him in the other cage.
