Melanie Merchant was adopted by Isaiah Merchant when her family was murdered. She killed the Merchants as well, before committing suicide. After she died, her spirit was trapped inside the family portrait. She killed three families, until the painting was put in storage. It was sold in either June or July 2006 to the Telescas. |

Isaiah watches Melanie while the Telescas flirt and get ready for bed. Melanie escapes the painting and heads upstairs to kill them, first Ann in bed and then Mark when he comes to bed.
The painting is cut from it's frame and burned, only it reforms back in the frame once more.
The painting is sold to Evelyn, and shipped and hung in the lounge. Melanie escapes the painting, and slices Evelyn's head off. Later two young men come racing in with a young lady, and find Evelyn's throat slashed.
The next day the young people are back, and recognize the mausoleum in the painting in the painting that Isaiah had changed. They also recognize that the razor is open, the one that Melanie uses. They leave.
One young man and the young lady come back that night, after Isaiah's spirit had been dispelled. Melanie escapes the painting, slams the front door, and goes after them. She is first repelled by the iron poker. She pushes a heavy writing desk on the man, and goes after the lady. However, her spirit is dispelled before Melanie kills her.
Dean burns Melanie's hair off her favorite doll.
