In April 2005, Vince and Holly Parker gets lost in southern Indiana, ends up in Burkitsville. They stop to eat at the cafe, and everyone ends up being so nice to them. When they came out of the cafe, Stacey gave them an apple pie. Vince shakes hands with Harley; Emily mentioned Vince has a cool tattoo. Harley and Stacey gives the couple directions back out to the interstate.
That's when their good luck stops, because the car just stops by the side of the road, and no cell reception. Vince sees a house through an orchard, and points out to Holly they can't just wait there. He starts walking, and she reluctantly follows. Partway across the orchard, they come across this strange scarecrow raised on a wooden post. Vince walks closer, teasingly saying, "Check it out. If I only had a brain..." She replies, "We wouldn't be lost." He comments how freaky the scarecrow is, while Holly claims it scares her. They continue to walk, when they hear a sound. Vince calls out, but no one responds. They start running, and the scarecrow grabs and kills Vince.
